Welcome to Elsternwick’s freshest café- Bad Liar. From the couple that brought us Black Gold in Richmond, comes their second café that’s located in Melbourne’s inner South-East. The name must be popular, because American rock band ‘Imagine Dragons’ recently dedicated a song to it.
Aisha and Azem Dzevlan may not be great fibsters, but they sure know how to produce a crowd pleasing venue, with both an aesthetically pleasing fit out, and appealing coffee and eats.
They might be bad at fabrications, but they’re great at delicious creations. The menu offers Avocado Toast with Black Beans, Jalapeno Salad, Fried Egg, and Yarra Valley Fetta; Granola Bowls with Organic Schulz Yoghurt; Pumpkin Salad; and a selection of toasties and pastries made fresh each day. Coffee is sourced from Ona, with both the Black Betty Blend for milk based coffee, and rotating singles for black coffee. I thoroughly enjoyed the Ethiopian Ayana as an espresso, which had delightful peach notes, and citrus acidity. I also enjoyed the Black Betty Blend with Oatly Milk, which made for a brilliant dairy alternative.
Located at the front of Elsternwick Station, this latest hotspot to hit Melbourne’s coffee Scene is open 7 days a week, from the early hours of 6:30pm, to 4:00pm.
